The Matte Finish card is 16PT stock with a flat, low-sheen surface. It doesn't reflect light the way the UV High Gloss version does, so colors look softer and text reads easily under bright light. There is no laminate layer, so it doesn't have the added, smooth layered surface of the Silk version.
When is matte a better fit than silk lamination?
Pick Matte Finish when you want a non-glossy look but don't need the extra laminated layer that Silk adds. Silk gives a soft, smooth, scuff-resistant surface; matte keeps the card as finished 16PT stock without that layer.
